Project Happy Feet's
Chef for a Cause Raised
Over $50,000 for Children's Cancer Foundation

Collaborating for a second time this year, The Good Folks lends its support in creating publicity for Project Happy Feet’s Chefs For A Cause event
which saw 13 notable chefs from Singapore come together in the name of charity.

After the successful inaugural event in 2009, Project Happy Feet’s Chefs For A Cause staged a comeback this year as Chef Jimmy Chok from JC Concepts led 12 other notable local chefs to present a gastronomical experience in hopes of raising funds in support of Children’s Cancer Foundation. Participating chefs included returning chefs Christopher Tan (Foodfella), Daniel Sia (The Disgruntled Chef), Pang Kok Keong (Sugar Daddy Group), Petrine Fan (Culinary Trainer), Robin Ho (The Privé Group) and Yen Koh (Unilever Food Solutions), as well as new faces such as Forest Leong (Forest Cooking School), Ivan Lim (Swissotel Merchant Court, Singapore), Mohammad Shahrome (SELA), Sebastian Ng (formerly from Ember), Shen Tan (Ujong) and Xu Tian Mu (Chef At Work).

Priced at $150 each, guests who purchased tickets for the event were in for a treat as they savoured over 35 delicately prepared creations, from premium plates like sea urchin chawan mushi and salt crusted striploin, to local delights with a twist, such as the Nasi Lemak sushi, to a plethora of desserts, from exotic white truffle cookie to classic black forest cake.

The entire event was fully organised and funded by various sponsors, including the participating chefs who took it upon themselves to provide the ingredients, so that 100 percent of the proceeds went directly to Children’s Cancer Foundation.

In support of the cause, The Good Folks managed to secure media features as well as event listings to raise awareness and encourage individuals to purchase tickets for the event. Journalists and bloggers were also invited to a special media preview where they learnt about the event and had first-hand opportunities to sample several dishes prepared by the chefs. Project Happy Feet’s Chefs For A Cause 2014 was featured in The Business Times, Power98, 938LIVE, Singapore Tatler Dining, The New Paper, SoShiok, August Man, Cuisine and Wine Asia, Shinmin Daily News, Lianhe Wanbao, as well as various bloggers including Superadrianme, Six-And-Seven, Melicacy and Foodmakespeoplehappy. The Good Folks was also able to rope in the support of Beam Artistes (such as Utt, Paul Foster, Sonya Davison, etc) and local singer, Kenny Khoo, to join the cause and spread the word on their respective social media platforms.

Chefs For A Cause 2014 event was graced by Singapore’s Ambassador-At-Large, Professor Tommy Koh, who presented tokens of appreciation to the 13 participating chefs. What’s more, in an effort to spice up the event and create more hype, celebrities from Beam Artistes, Kenny Khoo and Allen Chen from Catwalk Asia were also present to lend star power and help in fundraising onground.
