Over the years, The Good Folks has managed the PR efforts for Nando’s Singapore’s various CSR initiatives, including the “Keep The Flame Burning” Food Donation Program in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and the “Pay-As-You-Wish” event in 2019.
Since arriving on the shores of Singapore almost a decade ago, Nando’s has served up countless plates of its iconic flame-grilled PERi-PERi Chicken to individuals from all walks of life. With its heart full of gratitude towards Singaporeans, Nando’s doubled down on its commitment to support local communities most hard-hit by COVID-19.
During the extended Circuit Breaker period in 2020, Nando’s set aside 300 free support meals every day for communities severely impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from partnering with welfare organisations to reach the most vulnerable communities, anyone whose livelihoods had been severely impacted and needed help putting food on the table could pop by its restaurants and take-away a free meal.
In 2019, Nando’s Singapore also organised an exclusive “Pay-As-You-Wish” event at its flagship restaurant at Plaza Singapura, where diners were invited to simply ‘come, eat, and pay it forward to a good cause’.
During the event, diners left with their tummies and hearts full in the knowledge that 100% of the day’s proceeds were donated to the Yellow Ribbon Fund, the charitable fund registered under the Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises (SCORE), and a 6-year community partner of Nando’s. The Yellow Ribbon Fund is the first and only national charitable fund devoted entirely towards the development and implementation of rehabilitation and aftercare programs and services for ex-offenders and their families.
The Good Folks rallied the support of its vast network of media friends, notable personalities and influencers, and achieved resounding success for both initiatives, i.e. providing thousands of meals for vulnerable communities and anyone in need of help putting food on the table, and raising funds for the Yellow Ribbon Fund.
