The Good Folks teams up with Journey East as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary with the launch of PLAYplay,
a collection of furniture they created in collaboration with Lanzavecchia + Wai.
Over the past two decades, Journey East has become a veritable iconic lifestyle destination in Singapore for authentic vintage pieces, furniture created from reclaimed wood and objects that tell stories. Known for its eclectic and playful spirit in curating its products, Journey East’s 20th anniversary marks a milestone for the business. To celebrate the beginning of a new era, they partnered with renowned design studio, Lanzavecchia + Wai, to create a fun, playful and functional collection of furniture called PLAYplay.
PLAYplay was inspired by the 20-year heritage of vintage furniture curation by Journey East, mixed with a dose of modern sensibilities and fun. It is a collection that is authentic to new friends of Journey East, specifically the young couples and families who are at the beginning of their journeys of making a new home.
The pieces were carefully conceptualised to be sensitive to design, proportion and functions for the new South East Asians and modern home spaces. They were designed to be quirky, multi-functional, and full of character with a sense of eccentricity. With that, a collection of retro yet contemporary furniture inspired by the act of play, the spirit of play and the energy of play was born.
The Good Folks was engaged to manage public relations work for the launch, including media material development, media pitching and facilitation of interviews. The launch was a resounding success with high interest from both local and regional media alike. The team also secured exceptional coverage across key media like The Straits Times – Life!, The Business Times Weekend and other major lifestyle and design titles.
